Join Me & Take the Listerine 21-Day Challenge for a Brighter Smile

I received a Target gift card to purchase LISTERINE® Brand products from Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc. and The Motherhood as part of my participation in the LISTERINE® 21-Day Challenge. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are my own.

Did you know that brushing misses 75% of your mouth? That statistic may seem crazy, but it’s true. Even if you religiously brush your teeth twice a day, your mouth isn’t getting totally clean. You need to brush, floss and rinse with an antiseptic rinse to get an all-over clean. I brush my teeth twice a day, but I will admit that I only floss at night and I rarely ever use an antiseptic rinse. Why? My excuse is probably the same as yours — I’m just too busy. However, that’s all about to change because I have decided to take the LISTERINE 21-Day Challenge and I want you to join me!

Listerine 21-Day Challenge

What is the LISTERINE 21-Day Challenge? It’s all about changing your current oral care routine for 21 days to see how much healthier your gums and teeth are at the end of it. It involves brushing, flossing and rinsing with LISTERINE® Antiseptic twice a day for 21 days!

Listerine 21-Day Challenge

To complete the challenge we will be using  LISTERINE® Antiseptic, LISTERINE® SMART RINSE® (antiseptic for kids 6+), LISTERINE® WHITENING® Original Gel Fluoride Anticavity Toothpaste, and REACH® Floss. All of these products can be purchased at Target in the oral care aisle.

Listerine 21-Day Challenge

I am actually really excited to take on this challenge. I honestly feel like I have pretty good oral health. I haven’t had a cavity in years and every time I go to the dentist they remark on how well my teeth look. With that said, my gums are starting to recede and I would like to see how using Listerine Antiseptic helps with that.

My husband and son on the other hand are not too excited about this challenge. My husband HATES flossing with a passion. I’m pretty sure that he would rather do just about anything else than floss his teeth. His complaint is that it hurts his gums. I am trying to convince him that completing the 21-day challenge may just help with that and make it easier to floss over time.

My 12-year -old son also hates flossing, but he is great about brushing his teeth twice a day. He hasn’t had any cavities yet, so I think he is doing a pretty good job. Now that he is getting older and has lost all of his baby teeth I do, however, think it is important for him to start flossing and using an antiseptic rinse. He is going to participate in the challenge with us, only he will be using a kid’s toothpaste and LISTERINE® SMART RINSE®.

My twin girls are only four so they are too little to use the rinse but they will be participating by brushing and flossing with us twice a day. I will admit that this will be a challenge. We usually only brush their teeth at night. It’s a bad habit, but once again, I use the excuse that we are too busy. This challenge is definitely going to be great for the whole family and hopefully it will change our oral care habits for good!

I will be sharing our results of the challenge next month, so make sure you come back to see how we did!

Take the Listerine 21-Day Challenge

I hope that you will take the challenge to improve your own oral health care. As an added incentive, for every person who posts a “Swish Selfie” to LISTERINE® Brand’s Facebook page, LISTERINE® Brand will make a $5.00 contribution to Oral Health America’s Smiles Across America® program, up to $85,000, toward their goal of connecting 210,000 children with needed oral health services in 2014.
