Patriotic Oreo Pops

Patriotic Oreo Pops

The 4th of July is one my favorite holidays. I love taking the kids to the parade, eating yummy food and watching the fireworks. This year will be much like previous years — we will have a long, fun day celebrating with family and friends. We are planning on going to a couple backyard barbecues and maybe even a concert.

I plan on making some delicious treats to take to the parties and these Patriotic Oreo Pops are going to be a hit I’m sure. They are festive and super yummy. They are also easy to make and are great for parties!

Yield: 12

Ingredients

  • 12 oz. Wilton white chocolate melts
  • 6 oz. Wilton red chocolate melts
  • 6 oz. Wilton blue chocolate melts
  • 12 Oreo sandwich cookie (any black & white sandwich cookie will suffice)
  • 12 candy sticks (located with the Wilton items at major retailers)
  • Patriotic sprinkles
  • 2-3 short cups to stand the Oreos up in after dipping

Instructions

  1. In a microwave safe dish start by melting the white candy melts in 30 second increments. Stir after every 30 seconds and continue to microwave until melted. Let cool 2-3 minutes before dipping the cookies.
  2. While the white chocolate is cooling remove the tops of the Oreos on all 12 cookies and place one candy stick in the middle.
  3. Take a small teaspoon and scoop a small amount of white chocolate on top of the candy stick. Replace the top onto the Oreo. The white chocolate with harden acting like glue. Repeat this step will all 12 Oreos and place on a plate or cookie sheet and set in the fridge to harden for 20 minutes.
  4. Remove the Oreos from the fridge. If your white chocolate has started to harden simply microwave it again in 30 second increments, stirring until melted.
  5. Now that your candy sticks are in place it's time to dip! Coat each Oreo with white chocolate. Use a spoon to cover and let the excess chocolate drip back into the dish. Once it is coated stand it up in a short cup or glass to let set. Once all the Oreos are dipped in white chocolate, set them in the fridge to speed up the setting process.
  6. After 30 minutes remove the Oreos from the fridge.
  7. Melt the blue chocolate in a microwave safe dish in 30 second increments stirring until melted. Let the blue chocolate cool a few minutes after it's melted through.
  8. Using a teaspoon to scoop the blue chocolate you will want to cover a ¼ of the bottom of the cookie leaving a strip of white in the middle. Sprinkle the blue chocolate with Patriotic sprinkles and place back in a short glass to set. Repeat this step with the rest of your Oreos.
  9. Finally, melt the red chocolate in a microwave safe dish, same as before, letting it cool a few minutes before dipping the cookie.
  10. Dip the top ¼ of the cookie into the red chocolate and sprinkle with Patriotic sprinkles. Place back into the glass to set. Again, to speed up the process, place in the fridge for 20-30 minutes.
