Did you know? Americans spend less than 20 minutes each week cleaning their bathrooms. Getting a complete, deep clean the first time is clearly important. Scrubbing Bubbles® decided to launch the “Behind Closed Bathroom Doors” Campaign to explore what happens in busy bathrooms across America. What they found may surprise you!
Here are some dirty facts:
- Sixty percent of people flush the toilet with the seat up, allowing toilet bacteria to spray out and cover everything in a fine layer of filth.
- Two out of every five men who takes a shower admits to urinating in it. Twenty percent of people claim to also wash delicates in the bathtub, as well.
- Twenty-three percent of people do not wash their hands after using the bathroom despite using the tub and sink to clean pets and dirty sporting gear, as well as flushing with the toilet seat up.
I actually don’t mind cleaning — it’s therapeutic for me — but I get annoyed with our bathrooms. The kids are constantly getting toothpaste on the counter and somehow they still manage to pee on the toilet seat. Gross, I know. And in our master bathroom, we have a large two-person shower that is super hard to clean. The whole thing is covered in tile, so it takes forever to clean! When we moved into our home almost four years ago, I tried everything and found that Scrubbing Bubbles® Mega Shower Foamer is the only thing that gets our tile clean. It’s so easy to use and it’s effective!
Recently, I started using Scrubbing Bubbles® Foaming Disinfectant Bathroom Cleaner (now re-branded Scrubbing Bubbles® Multi Surface Bathroom Cleaner) and it has been awesome for our cleaning counters and toilet seats. It even works great on our tile! I really like that it expands into hard-to-reach places to kill 99.9% of viruses and bacteria and it works great on soap scum, hard water stains and dirt. It leaves everything nice and shiny and it smells great!
Before I had kids, I would spend all day cleaning my house. Now I just don’t have time for that. I have a never-ending to-do list, so I can’t spend all day cleaning. There just isn’t enough time in the day, so I have had to learn how to clean effectively in less time. Below I’ve shared my tips on how to do this.
How to Clean Effectively in Less Time
1. Break Up Your Cleaning Routine — Pick 1-2 areas to clean each day. For example, you might decide to mop all of your hard floors on Mondays, clean bathrooms on Tuesdays, laundry on Wednesdays, etc. You can also get the kids involved by creating weekly chore sheets for them to complete. You can rotate who does what each week to keep it fair.
2. Get the Whole Family Involved — Each family member contributes to the mess, so each family member should have to help clean up the mess. When we have guests coming over and we need to clean the house quickly, we each focus on cleaning a different area. The little ones will pick up their rooms and play area, my older one will dust and clean bathrooms, my husband will vacuum and I will mop and clean the kitchen. It’s amazing how much faster it goes when everyone helps out!
3. Stay on Top of It — Bathrooms can go from clean to disgusting in no time. Instead of letting the mess build-up, wipe down the counters and sink on a daily basis. Scrubbing Bubbles® makes this easy! Simply spray and wipe for an effective clean.
4. Use Quality Products — There is nothing more frustrating than spending a lot of time cleaning only to find that the products you are using aren’t effective. Bathrooms are often the hardest areas to clean. Rust, soap scum and dirt can be difficult to remove. For years I have been using Scrubbing Bubbles® bathroom products because they are the only ones that effectively clean my showers.
Scrubbing Bubbles® wants to help homes across America “Keep the Complete Clean.” The next time you are at the store, pick up a bottle of Scrubbing Bubbles® to get rid of germs, tough dirt, and grime for a complete clean!

I agree that bathroom is a filthy place that needs to be cleaned a bit every day! I live with my twin boys and a husband which makes me the only girl in the house. The two little ones make sure that there is toothpaste on the counter and the mirror as well as pee on the toilet seat and sometimes the floor. Bathroom cleaning is a daily chore for me and I would love to try Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner! Thank you for the post! :) Greets!
