Celebrate the Rio 2016 Olympic Games with Mario & Sonic

The 2016 Olympic Games are almost here! On August 5 the Opening Ceremony will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. My family can’t wait for the fun to begin! In the meantime, my kids have been having a blast playing Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games on their Nintendo 3DS. It’s a great game to boost excitement and help kids learn more about the Olympics!

We may not be able to compete in the Olympics in real life, but we can pretend! This game allows you to take on fun and exciting events set throughout the host city of Rio de Janeiro. You get to pick your character — Mario, Sonic, Princess Peach and more — to compete in 14 different events such as Soccer, Table Tennis, Gymnastics, Swimming and Golf. The graphics are bright and colorful and there’s even themed music to match!

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Review

My kids love playing sports and watching the Olympics, so they have really enjoyed this game. They’ve had a lot of fun competing in the different events and earning medals. Some of the events are challenging, while others are simple, which makes it a great game for kids (and adults!) of all ages. My kids span a wide age range (6-14 yrs) and it has been fun and engaging for each of them.

As a parent, I appreciate that this game also teaches kids a little bit about the Olympics. They get to learn about the different countries/cultures, as well as how to work/train hard in order to compete and be successful.

As a side note, if you are thinking about getting your child a Nintendo 3DS, I would highly recommend it for a few reasons:

  • it’s portable and charges quickly (great for traveling!)
  • it’s easy to use
  • no WiFi or Internet connection required
  • wide variety of games to play that are fun for all ages

You can purchase Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, as well as the Nintendo 3DS, on Amazon.com or other retailers like Target, Walmart and Best Buy. And you can discover more exciting Nintendo products by visiting Nintendo.com.

I have received free product courtesy of Nintendo, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
