Give Back with Discover this Holiday Season + $50 Gift Card Giveaway

It’s barely November and it seems like everyone is already gearing up for Christmas. I will admit, I can’t wait to put up my decorations and start my holiday shopping, but first I think it’s important to focus on Thanksgiving. It’s one of my favorite holidays. I love the time spent with family, the yummy food, and most importantly, the reminder to be thankful for everything we have.

I encourage you to take the month of November to reflect on what you are thankful for and also to give back to those in need if you can. If you are a Discover Card member, there are several simple ways you can use your card to give back.

Give Back with Discover Card this Holiday Season

Participate in Giving Tuesday — Giving Tuesday is a movement to create a national day of giving to kick off the giving season, which happens on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Discover is a founding partner of Giving Tuesday, and is offering a 2% match to donations to the company’s Cashback Bonus charitable partners that day, as well as waiving transaction fees for donations made with a Discover Card.

Donate Cashback Bonus — Discover cardmembers can donate their Cashback Bonus to a list of charities on Discover’s website, which range from helping children, veterans and wildlife, among others.

Redeem Cashback Bonus for Gift Cards — Another way to redeem Cashback Bonus is to put it towards gift cards from Discover’s merchant partners, which come in a variety of categories, including Restaurants, Entertainment, and Department Stores among others. Give the gift cards as holiday gifts, or better yet, use the gift cards to buy items for a family in need.

Earn Cashback with Discover Deals — Discover Deals is offering 5% CashBack Bonus at a number of merchants, including Michael’s, Crate & Barrel, Bed, Bath and Beyond and Kmart — all great places for getting cooking supplies and housewares, as well as stocking up on supplies for fun Thanksgiving crafts.
