I’m all about having nice clothes, but I hate paying full price. As someone who is a bargain hunter, I would rather have more money in my pocket. I figure why pay retail if I don’t have to? Not only is it fun to find great deals, it’s also financially responsible. The money I save allows my family to do other things we enjoy like traveling and dining out. With fall right around the corner, I’ve been looking to add a few outfits to my wardrobe. I recently discovered thredUP and I’m loving all the great deals I’m finding on name brand and designer clothes!
If you haven’t already discovered thredUP, it’s a great resource for women’s and kids’ high-quality secondhand (like-new) fashion. It’s like a well curated consignment store, only with the convenience of shopping online. You’ll find a wide range of brands from Madewell to Zara to Joie, always up to 90% off the original retail price. It’s a great way to afford the brands and designers you might not normally be able to.
Most items are in like-new condition and some are even brand new with tags. Simply search by brand, size and/or color to find what you are looking for. After you’ve placed your order, expect an adorable polka dot box on your doorstep. Inside, your finds will be hand-folded with cute thredUP tags, wrapped in nice tissue paper, all held together with a cute sticker. Such a fun touch!
The best part about thredUP is it saves you time. Now that I have kids, I don’t have time to go to the mall and shop for clothes. It’s so much easier to shop from the comfort of my own home, which is usually around 10 pm when the kids are in bed and I have a moment to myself.
My style is casual / sporty chic, so my go-to outfit is usually a pair of skinny jeans and an oversized t-shirt or sweater paired with a long necklace and a pair of flats or tennis shoes. Simple yet stylish. After shopping the thredUP site, I found a lot of great items to choose from to fit my style. I was hoping to find a couple pairs of jeans, an essential for any wardrobe, and I was successful!
I wear a lot of different brands of denim, but Big Star Jeans is one of my favorites. They fit my athletic build well and they last forever. I was excited to snag two pairs on thredUP — one skinny leg cut and one boot leg cut, both in like-new condition for just $24.49 each. That’s 79% off retail!
I also bought a striped sweater from Forever 21. It’s comfy, and best of all, brand new with tags! It was just $7.49, a savings of 46% off retail.
In total, I spent $56.47 and saved $195.43! (that’s 78%!) With my savings, I can buy my kids back to school clothes!
Need to clean out your closet before you can add more clothes to it? thredUP is it’s a great way to get rid of clothes you don’t wear anymore. Simply order a thredUP Clean Out Bag, fill it with the items you no longer want (consult the thredUP website to see what they do not and not take, and what the payout is), and place on front of your front door for pick-up. It literally could not be easier to get rid of the things you no longer want in a responsible way!
