Before we know it, school will be out and summer will be here. And let me tell you, I cannot wait. My kids are anxious to be done for the year and I am right there with them. We could all use a break! We have some exciting things planned this summer, but I am most looking forward to the lazy days we will spend at the pool drinking our new favorite drink… I call it a Skinny Frosted Strawberry Lemonade. It is amazing! But don’t take my word for it. You have to try it for yourself!
The Skinny Frosted Strawberry Lemonade was inspired by one of our favorite chain restaurants. They recently came out with the most delicious, refreshing treat called the Frosted Lemonade. The frozen drink is a blend of vanilla ice cream and lemonade. My kids and I love it! But honestly, it isn’t most healthy thing in the world and that’s why I call it a treat. So that got me thinking the other day — why can’t I make a similar drink, only a better-for-you version? One that we can enjoy whenever we want and not feel guilty about it…
As I brainstormed how to make a lower fat/lower calorie version, I knew I would have to substitute the ice cream from something more nutritious. Ice cream has a lot of fat and sugar and surprisingly not a lot of protein. I recently discovered Yulu yogurt and knew that it would be the perfect substitution. It’s the most amazing Aussie-Style yogurt! It’s made right here in the USA with honest ingredients. It’s smoothed twice for extra creaminess, so its unlike anything you’ve tried before. And with 9 grams of protein, it’s a nourishing choice too.
I used the Yulu Strawberry Yogurt in my Skinny Frosted Strawberry Lemonade recipe and it came out amazingly delicious! The combination of Aussie-Style yogurt, all natural lemonade and ice blend together to create a refreshing drink that you’ll want to sip on all summer long.
Skinny Frosted Strawberry Lemonade
Ingredients
- 1 5.3 oz Container of Yulu Strawberry Yogurt
- 1 Cup All Natural Lemonade (make sure it is made with real lemons!)
- 1 Cup Ice
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately!
Notes
You can add 2-3 strawberries (fresh or frozen) to the mix for a more intense strawberry flavor.
I tend to buy Greek yogurt because of its high protein content, but the kids don’t like the sour taste. Yulu has proven to be the perfect alternative! It’s packed full of protein and it tastes great. I can’t get over the extra creamy texture and flavor. Of course, my twin girls think it’s a treat, but little do they know, it’s providing them with essential nutrients too!
Yulu comes in five delicious flavors — Strawberry, Blueberry, Raspberry, Vanilla Bean and Honey. Each one comes in a clear cup so you can see exactly what’s inside — just honest ingredients and real fruit. There are no artificial flavors or colors and it’s gluten-free. You have to try it to believe it!
