I was recently sent a bottle of Concannon Conservancy Crimson & Clover wine to review. Not only was I excited to try a new red wine, I was also excited to try a blended wine for the first time. I was surprised to learn that this wine has a very special meaning behind it. That made receiving it even more special!
Conservancy Crimson and Clover, was created as a tribute from John Concannon to his father, Jim Concannon, the father of America’s First Petite Sirah. It was presented to him at a celebration of his 80th birthday which was held at Concannon Vineyard on July 25, 2011.
The name Crimson & Clover reflects pride in our Irish heritage; the clover is the traditional Irish symbol for prosperity and crimson pays homage to the strong, bright, deep red color of the blend. This wine is unique in the Conservancy tier as the first Petite Sirah blend and consists of 50 percent Petite Sirah, 25 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 15 percent Syrah and l0 percent Zinfandel. Crimson & Clover upholds the virtues of a Petite Sirah while adding rich deep berry flavors, softness and complexity. 10,000 cases will be produced.

I love wine but I'm always scared to venture away from my favorites. I'd love to try some new wines, though, especially with dinner. Thanks for the review!
