Hot Spinach & Artichoke Dip in a Bread Bowl

Christmas is just days away! Can you believe it? I’ve been so busy with work that I’ve hardly had time to prepare. At least I have most of my shopping done and my Christmas Eve dinner menu is ready to go. I’m so excited to surprise my family with this delicious Hot Spinach & Artichoke Dip baked in a KING’S HAWAIIAN® bread bowl.

Hot Spinach & Artichoke Dip in a Bread Bowl

Every year I host Christmas Eve dinner with my side of the family. I’m always so focused on the main dish that I forget about having appetizers for my guests to munch on while they wait for the big meal. This year I decided to be on top of my game and whip up something delicious. The first thing that came to mind was hot spinach and artichoke dip. I’ve loved it for as long as I can remember, yet it’s usually something I only enjoy at a restaurant. I knew I had to make it!

If you’re a fan of warm, cheesy goodness, this dip really hits the spot. It’s filled with artichoke hearts, spinach and over four different kinds of cheese. On top of that, it’s served piping hot in a toasted bread bowl. What’s not to love?

KING'S HAWAIIAN Sweet Round Bread

The best part about this recipe is it really is easy to make {see full recipe below}. You’ll need parmesan cheese, Italian blend cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, mayo, spinach, artichoke hearts, minced garlic and most importantly, KING’S HAWAIIAN Sweet Round Bread. I found everything I needed to make mine at Walmart.

First, hollow out the inside of the bread with a bread knife, leaving about 1-inch around the sides and bottom. Take the pieces you’ve removed and cut them into cubes and set aside (you’ll use these to dip later).

Next, combine all the remaining ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Scoop mixture into bread bowl and bake for 20-30 minutes at 400 degrees or until the dip is heated throughout.

The last step is to remove the bread bowl from the oven, top with more Italian Blend cheese and broil just long enough for the cheese to melt (about one minute). If you leave it in too long, the cheese will burn. I did a trial recipe this past weekend to make sure everything was perfect and my bread turned a little crispy after I broiled it. While it looks burnt, it was actually perfect. My husband loved breaking off the crispy parts and eating them!
