Join Me & Unplug for Mother’s Day #SocialBlackout

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for MetLife. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

I am really looking forward to continuing our Mother’s Day tradition this year. We usually spend the first half of the day together as a family and the second half of the day with extended family. The day always starts with my husband making a yummy breakfast. Then we head to the local nursery to buy flowers for our yard. He lets me pick out the flowers I want and then we come home and plant them together as a family. During nap time, he sends me to the nail salon to get a manicure and pedicure. He always makes sure that I relax and get pampered on Mother’s Day. I think it’s so sweet!

The second half of the day is spent with extended family. We almost always host a family barbecue and this year will be no different. We are planning on having lots of yummy food and good conversation. The weather is supposed to be nice, so hopefully we will spend most of the time outdoors!

My favorite part about Mother’s Day is the time spent with my husband, kids, and of course my mom. I don’t see my mom as much as I would like, so I always cherish the time I get to spend with her.

This Mother’s Day (May 12) I plan on giving my kids and mom my full attention and will be signing off from all social media. I plan on joining MetLife for their #SocialBlackout movement, which challenges everyone to log off of social media on Mother’s Day and give Mom the time and attention she deserves.

As a blogger, it can be a challenge to stay off social media. I not only use it to stay up-to-date with my family and friends, but I also use it for my job. It can be really hard to disconnect, but I know that it is good for me to do every now and then, especially on holidays. I know how frustrating it is when I am trying to communicate with family members or friends and they are distracted by their phones or computers, and I don’t want to do the same thing. That’s why I am going to make it a point to focus on the time spent with my family this Mother’s Day and unplug from all social media.

I want to challenge you to do the same. Join the #SocialBlackout movement and give your Mom the undivided attention she deserves on Mother’s Day!
