There’s nothing better than a yummy smoothie when you need a little burst of energy to get you through your day.
I love to have one after I am done working out, and my kids love to share one for a snack. Not only do smoothies taste delicious, but they are also really good for you!
Depending on what you put in them, they can be packed full of vitamins and antioxidants to boost your immune system and help you fight off cold and flu viruses.
Last week I posted my Cold, Cough, and Flu kit that contained all of my favorite items to help keep my family healthy during cold and flu season.
100% Florida Orange Juice was one of the items I included in my kit because it contains lots of Vitamin C to help boost your immune system. We like to drink orange juice by itself, but we also like to add it to our smoothies whenever we make them.
A couple of days ago my son came down with a runny nose, so we have been trying to give him lots of Vitamin C ever since.
Yesterday he asked if I would pleeeease make him a smoothie after school, so I took advantage of the opportunity to load him and the girls up with some extra Vitamin C and antioxidants.
I made our favorite Orange-Strawberry-Banana smoothies, and the kids had them gone in no time! I barely got any, so I’m thinking I need to make them again soon!
Our Orange-Strawberry-Banana Smoothies are super easy to make. All you need is 100% Florida orange juice, lowfat vanilla yogurt, strawberries (I like frozen best), a banana, and ice.
You can leave out the yogurt, but we like that it makes the smoothies more creamy and provides a little bit of protein.
Just pour the ice into your blender, add the remaining ingredients, and then blend until smooth. That’s it! {You can add more or less ice, depending on how thick you want your smoothie to be}
Doesn’t it look yummy?!
This didn’t last long with my three kiddos! They loved it and I love that it’s good for them! Now let’s hope that we can stay healthy for the rest of the cold and flu season.
