I always thought that once my kids were in school, life would slow down a bit and I would be able to get more stuff done. For years I’ve daydreamed about it…I would be able to work out more, cook amazing dinners, go shopping all afternoon, deep clean the house… But the reality is now that my kids are in school, I’m busier than ever. How does that happen? By the time I get all of my kids off to school and get a workout in, it’s time for me to start working. Half the time I forget to eat lunch until 2 PM. Then the kids have to be picked up from school and carted off to their various sports practices. I’m sure once I get into a better routine I will find more time to get stuff done, but for now life is crazy.
In the meantime, I’ve learned that I need to be more prepared for whatever life throws at me…because with kids you never know what to expect. I’ve found that waking up earlier helps me squeeze a little more into my day. If I get to the gym by mid-morning, I actually get home at a decent time to eat lunch before I have to start working. I’ve also found that it helps to plan my dinners ahead of time so that I only go to the grocery store once a week. I’m also making sure that I have prepackaged snacks in the fridge to grab as I run out the door, so that I don’t have to worry about being hungry while on the go.
Whether it’s taking the kids to and from school, running errands, going to sports practices, games and other events, I find myself on the go constantly. It’s inevitable that I will get hungry at some point. Lately, it’s been in the school pick-up line. Some days it takes 20 minutes to get through it. It never fails that I will be sitting there waiting and wishing I had a snack. I don’t have to worry about that now that I discovered Hillshire Snacking products!
