I participated in an In-Home Party Activation on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Mattel. I received product samples to facilitate my party and a promotional item to thank me for participating.
My twin girls have been obsessed with Barbie for quite a while now. They play with their Barbie dolls all the time and have several Barbie movies that they watch over and over again to the point that they have them memorized. Their all-time favorite is Barbie: The Princess and the Popstar. They watch it so much that we always get the songs stuck in our heads. Daddy and big brother aren’t so fond of that but I don’t mind. When I was growing up, I loved Barbie too, so it’s fun to share in their excitement.
The newest Barbie movie, Barbie and the Secret Door, was just released and couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. The girls started Pre-K last month and even though they went to preschool last year, they have been a little shy and hesitant about going to school. Alexa, the shy princess who stars in the new movie, has been a great inspiration them as they learn to make new friends at school.
In this magical, musical adventure, Barbie™ stars as Alexa™, a shy princess who would rather read than perform her royal duties. While walking through the royal garden, Alexa™ discovers a secret door in her kingdom, much like the one in the book she’s reading! She steps through the door and enters a whimsical land filled with magical creatures and surprises. Alexa™ meets Romy™ and Nori™, a mermaid and a fairy, who explain that a spoiled ruler named Malucia is trying to take all the magic in the land. To her surprise, Alexa™ has magical powers in this world, and her new friends are certain that only she can restore magic to their land. Discover what happens when Alexa™ finds the courage to stand up for what’s right and learns that the power of friendship is far more precious than magic.
To celebrate the release of Barbie and the Secret Door, I thought it would be fun to throw a little party for the girls. We invited a few of their friends over to watch the movie and play with all of their new Barbie and the Secret Door toys. We also ate some healthy snacks — popcorn, grapes and veggies with dip.
The kids LOVED the movie! Usually when we have a group of kids over to watch a movie they only watch a little bit before getting distracted and wanting to play. Not with this movie! The kids were mesmerized and engaged the entire time. They loved all the singing and had fun dancing to the music. I really enjoyed the movie too. I like that Alexa stands up for what is right and shows how to be a true friend. These simple messages are great for teaching kids how to treat others.
We received a box full of Barbie and the Secret Door goodies for our party. I kept everything hidden until the party started, so the kids were surprised and excited when I brought everything out. They couldn’t wait for me to open it all up so that they could start playing!
The kids spent a long time playing with the dolls and coloring/painting in the activity books. They had so much fun and have continued to play with everything pretty much non-stop since the party ended!
If you have Barbie fan, make sure you check out the new Barbie and the Secret Door movie! It is now available in-stores and online. Visit the Barbie website to learn more about the movie and to order the DVD online.
