My family couldn’t wait for Avengers to be released on Tuesday (9/25). My son has been a huge super hero fan ever since I can remember and I have to admit that my husband and I are pretty big fans as well. There’s just something about watching an action-packed movie that involves super heros saving the day. Needless to say, my husband and I were pretty bummed that we missed seeing Avengers in theaters. My son was lucky enough to see it with his cousins, but of course he still really wanted to see it again.
Normally if we miss a movie in theaters (which happens most of the time), we wait for it to come out on DVD and rent it from Redbox. It’s super cheap that way, and it allows us to have a family movie night or date night at home. With three kids it’s just easier and cheaper to do that. We only buy movies if they are really, really good. We knew the Avengers would be one of those movies, so we decided to head to Walmart to pick up the Exclusive Blu-Ray/DVD/Novel Combo Pack as soon as it was released!
Before my son and I headed to Walmart, I downloaded the Avengers Augmented Reality App on my iPhone. The app brings the characters to life and encourages you to have fun as you take quizzes, play games, and find trigger points while shopping. Since my son and I rarely have time alone together, I thought it would be neat to turn our shopping trip into a fun night of free entertainment!
We had a blast trying to find the trigger points and looking for Avengers merchandise at Walmart. We didn’t have to look far! As soon as we walked into the store, we were greeted with an Avengers poster on the security sensor.
After we picked up the Avengers Blu-Ray/DVD Combo pack we went on a mission to find all of the trigger points throughout the store. Besides the electronics department, we found them with in the boys clothing section, on an end-cap in the toy department, with the Halloween costumes, and in the deli department. My son really got into it and was finding Avengers merchandise everywhere!
We ended our shopping trip by picking up a Marketside pizza in the deli department. We had several choices to choose from, but ultimately decided on the Hulk Supreme Pizza. For only $8.98 it was a pretty good deal, considering how big it was!

As soon as we got home from our trip, my son couldn’t wait to put his Avengers Lego set together. He is a huge Legos fan, so he was excited to add another piece to his collection. Once he was done with that, we had a lot of fun using the Avengers Augmented Reality App to turn our DVD case and pizza box into a 3D action scene. Pretty cool, huh?!
Last night we decided to have our official Avengers movie night. We baked our Marketside pizza and paired it with some fruit and veggies for a fairly healthy meal. It was super yummy!
Then we had some yummy ice cream while we looked at the Avengers graphic novel. The colors are so vibrant and the pictures are engaging. My son loves comic books, so he can’t wait to read the whole thing!
Our twin girls are only 2.5, so we had to wait for them to go to bed before we could watch the movie. I won’t spoil it for you, but let me just say it is awesome!! I love action-packed movies and this one is incredibly entertaining, especially since it has so many great super heros in it. If you haven’t seen it yet, it is a must-see!
