Hello mamas! My name is Julia and I’m the new baby reviewer for The PennyWiseMama! I’m super excited to be sharing my experiences about all kinds of baby products with you. My little baby girl Clementine is not even 4 weeks old now, which makes me a brand new mama! All this baby stuff is so new to me and I have no experience with baby products, so this allows me to look at everything with a very clean slate.
The first item I received for review is an Organic Cotton Baby Sleep Sack from Merino Kids, a company based out of New Zealand. Before learning about Merino Kids, I never actually heard the word “sleep sack” before. So far we’ve been doing what we learned at the hospital where Clementine was born — swaddle the baby in a large blanket, make her feel very tight, and that’s it. Sometimes though she wriggles herself out of the swaddle and I don’t notice it for a while until I wake up and re-swaddle her. Good thing it’s summer! In the winter she would probably be really cold quickly. That’s when this sleep sack will come in handy.
At this point the sleep sack is still very big for her tiny little body, but I think she will really enjoy it once she gets a little bigger.
I am a big fan of everything organic, so for my baby I especially want to make the best choices. This one is even GOTS-certified! Another thing I like about the sleep sack is the full length self locking zipper that goes down on one side, away from Clementine’s face. It unzips at the bottom so I can do a quick diaper change without taking the whole thing off. Also the zipper is sewn inside the lining so she won’t get scratched. My favorite feature is the little pocket that just fits my hand to check if her diaper is wet. Love that!
Personally, I would like the design of the sleep sack to be a little more modern, maybe with more exciting shapes than just the stripes. But honestly at this point Clementine doesn’t care yet. She only cares about being warm and comfortable. And the Merino baby sleep sack definitely accomplishes that!

This looks absolutely perfect for winter. And I love that you can unzip from the bottom for diaper changes, rather than fussing with the whole thing.

I love sleep sacks for newborns! this one looks super comfy, perhaps for the next child but I can't see spending that much on one!!!
