We absolutely love the rug, so I was excited when Mohawk agreed to work with me again to offer up another review and giveaway.

When we moved into our new house a year and a half ago, we were anxious to find furniture and décor to make it feel more like a “home.” Due to time and money, we put off decorating our basement until just recently.

We decided that we would start with our family room. We wanted to make it a comfortable place where we could spend time together as a family. We started with buying a new flat screen TV and surround sound system. Then we added some pictures and baskets to give the room a little character. We also wanted the area to feel warm and cozy, so we added some soft blankets and a comfy bean bag chair. The only thing missing was a nice area rug!

I love our Mohawk runner rug, so I knew that I wanted to get another Mohawk rug for the basement. After browsing the Mohawk website, I finally decided on the 60 x 96 Mohawk Wilkshire area rug in mink/lichen. Our furniture in the family room is an olive green color and we have lots of dark brown accent walls throughout our house, so I wanted a rug that would blend in well while still providing a pop of color.

Now I think I just need a coffee table and some more decorations to complete the look!

The Wilkshire rug is woven out of 100% olefin, making it incredibly soft, yet durable. It has a longer pile than other rugs. Instead of being flat, it has more of a “shag” look to it. This really makes it thick and soft. The back of the rug is not skid-resistant. It stays just fine on my carpet, but if I was placing it on a hardwood or tile floor I would make sure to buy a non-skid pad to place underneath it. The rug is stain and fade resistant, and can be spot cleaned only. I like that it’s easy to vacuum and doesn’t look matted down after it’s been walked on. I can tell that it is a high-quality rug that will last us a long time!

The Wilkshire area rug gives our family room so much more character! It matches the room perfectly and I like how it makes the room feel warm and cozy. It truly is a beautiful rug!
