Amidst the chaos of the season, you’ll find me in the gym working off all the stress and extra calories I’ll inevitably be consuming. It’s the only way I’ll keep my sanity. Between working, going to my son’s basketball games, shopping and attending countless holiday parties, I’m determined to devote at least one hour of my day to working out. It’s already proving to be difficult (how is it so hard to find one hour a day?), but I know it’s important. This time of year we eat out a lot more and it’s hard to avoid all the sweets. Plus, the holidays can be stressful and a good workout always releases those feel-good endorphins.
Most days I go to the gym late morning and get done with my workout right about lunch time. I’m always starving but I don’t have time to go home and eat a full meal. I usually have to rush from the gym to preschool to pick up my twin girls. It’s always tempting to stop at the fast food drive-through to grab a quick bite to eat, but I know eating all that junk kind of defeats the purpose of working out. Instead, I’ve been throwing a V8 Protein Bar in my gym bag and eating that after my workouts. They are perfect because they have just the right amount of protein and carbs refuel my body and tide me over until I can eat lunch.
V8 Protein Bars aren’t just any ol’ granola bar. These bars are actually good for you! With 10 grams of protein, a quarter cup of vegetables and as much fiber as two cups of kale, you can feel good about eating them.
There are several flavor options to choose from, but so far I’ve only tried the Chocolate Peanut Butter. In addition to yummy chocolate and peanut butter, these bars are made with carrots, sweet potatoes, soy protein and brown rice syrup. I’ve always been a fan of the chocolate peanut butter combo and these really hit the spot. They taste so good that it’s hard to believe that they are good for you!
Beside being a great post-workout refuel, I’ve found that these bars are also a healthy snack option for the kids. My son really likes throwing one in his backpack to have as a snack before basketball practice. On the days I don’t have one after I work out, I enjoy one with a cup of hot tea in the afternoon while I work. They are my little daily indulgence that I don’t have to feel guilty about!

Over the holidays, it’s a challenge to stay on track and eat healthy. We are constantly tempted by sweet treats, seasonal lattes and comfort food. While I am all about living life and enjoying the holidays, I also think it’s important to find a balance. If you are craving something sweet, try a V8 Protein Bar instead of a cookie or piece of candy. It will not only satisfy your sweet tooth, it will also fuel your body with healthy nutrients that it needs!
I found V8 Protein Bars at my local Walmart in the health and beauty aisle by the diet products. Depending on your local store’s inventory, you may also find the all-new V8 Protein Shakes. The shakes look delicious, and with 12 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber, it sounds like they are good for you too! I encourage you to pick up a box the next time you are at Walmart.
Make sure to follow V8 on Facebook and Twitter to stay up-to-date with news and product promotions!

Yep, those seasonal lattes just kill me. I need to start having a V-8 shake instead. Much better choice. #client
