There were so many things that I loved about our home when we first moved in five years ago. The beautiful hardwood flooring and brand new carpet were definitely at the top of the list. In comparison to the worn out carpet we had at our old house, the new carpet was heavenly. It was so soft and plush and it looked amazing. Unfortunately, that didn’t last for long.

With a family of five and an open floor plan, our carpet took a beating. The carpet we thought was so great wasn’t really that great after all. No matter how many times we vacuumed it or had it professionally cleaned, it didn’t stay looking nice for very long. It was time for a change!

After doing a lot of research, my husband and I made the decision to tear out our carpet and replace it with laminate flooring. We actually ended up having to tear out our hardwood flooring in our kitchen and dining room as well in order for our open floor plan to look seamless. That was tough, but we really had no choice.

We did all the tear out, removal, and install ourselves in about four days. It wasn’t too hard, but it definitely was a learning process. The end result was so worth it! It’s been about five months since we completed the floors and we are still so happy with our decision!
