My nine-year-old son caught the Harry Potter rage over the summer, and has been addicted to watching the movies and reading all of the books ever since. It was a not a surprise to me that when given the choice of kids Halloween costumes to review from Wholesale Costume Club, he chose the Harry Potter Deluxe Gryffindor Robe in size large (10-12).
When we received the costume, we were pleasantly surprised at how nice the quality was. It seems like a lot of costumes are made out of really cheap plastic that rips easily and isn’t very comfortable, and this robe is anything but that! It is made out of soft fleece that won’t rip, and is soft and comfortable to wear. We also like that the robe has a large hood and Gryffindor Crest that closely resembles the ones that the Harry Potter characters wear.
Since the costume itself is just a robe, we made it complete with a white collared shirt, burgundy tie, pants, and dress shoes. The only thing that would make it better is if he had a pair of Harry Potter glasses and a wand!
As far as sizing goes, the size large (10-12) robe fits my average height/weight son perfectly right now. The length of the robe and sleeves is plenty long. However, considering that he will turn 10 in November, it seems like it may run small. I don’t think it would fit an average 11 or 12 year old. I would suggest going up a size if you decide to purchase this costume.
