I really like that it gives you the ability to allocate a specific amount to the card each month — for example, you could budget $500 for groceries, load that amount to your card and then know that that is the amount you have to spend on groceries for the month. It’s easier than carrying around cash and then you don’t have to worry about spending more than you’ve budgeted.
I’ve used my American Express Serve Cash Back card at a variety of places but for the most part it’s been used to buy food (restaurants, fast food, grocery store, etc.). Let’s just say, we like to eat! It’s what we enjoy doing as a family, but it can definitely add up. To be honest, we haven’t been that great about budgeting for food in the last year.
