Go Green with Scott Naturals Tube-Free Bath Tissue

Scott Naturals Tube-Free Toilet Paper

I’m all about living a green lifestyle and encouraging my family to do the same. We do our best to recycle and use products that are eco-friendly, so I was thrilled to hear that the Scott Brand launched its new Scott Naturals Tube-Free bath tissue. I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials, but if not, what’s exciting about this innovate product is that it eliminates the cardboard tube that has been the central fixture of rolled toilet paper for more than 100 years — offering Americans an easy way to make the world a little greener.

To help unveil the installation, Scott Naturals Tube-Free was joined by partner, Carter Oosterhouse, home and design expert. He shared some easy ways to give your bathroom a green makeover. He also encouraged people to pledge to #TossTheTube for good and do their part to reduce tube waste. You can check out Carter’s tips below!

Tips for Giving Your Bathroom a Green Makeover

  1. Save Water with Every Flush. Put a plastic bottle in your toilet tank by soaking off the label, filling the bottle with water, replacing the cap and placing it in the tank (a small plastic juice bottle or laundry soap bottle works well). In five minutes, you will begin to save one or two gallons per flush!
  2. Green Products. Toss the tube! Scott Naturals Tube-Free bath tissue has removed the cardboard core – and the product has major potential to reduce a portion of the 17 billion toilet paper tubes thrown away each year, enough to fill the Empire State Building twice!
  3. Reduce Waste. Use bathroom necessities with less packaging like bar soaps, which are friendlier for the environment (and your budget). The carbon footprint of liquid soaps is about 25 percent larger than that of bar soaps. They also require more energy for packaging production and disposal.
  4. Install Tankless Water Heater. With a tankless water heater, you only heat the water that you use, which saves energy and money. Gas water heaters give off an average of 58 percent fewer carbon emissions than electric ones.
  5. Save Energy. Compact fluorescent bulbs use about 75 percent less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs and last 10-25 times longer. Energy-efficient bulbs can also save you money on electricity costs.
