20 Minutes of Spring Project – Get Outside to Help the BGCA

I received free product and compensation from Claritin® to write this post. All opinions are my own.

Spring is officially here and we couldn’t be more excited! After being cooped up all winter, it’s so nice to be able to get outside and enjoy nature. While the weather has been unpredictable so far this season, we have had some really nice days that have been perfect for playing outside, working on our yard, and taking walks together as a family.

20 Minutes of Outdoor Activity - Walking Our Dog

I’ve found that we are all so much happier when we spend time outdoors. It’s a great way for us to disconnect from our phones, breathe in the fresh air, get some exercise (our dog included!), and spend time together as family. Sometimes, however, my kids need an extra push to get outside. I’m sure many of you parents can relate!

It’s no surprise that I find my kids today are spending less time playing outdoors than I did. A recent survey commissioned by the makers of Claritin® found that spending just 20 minutes outside in nature can help make you feel happy.

The survey also found that 97% of Americans surveyed find that spring is a great season to experience the simple joys that outdoor activities provide. I couldn’t agree more!

20 Minutes of Spring Project

To encourage more Americans to spend time outdoors this spring, Claritin has launched the 20 Minutes of Spring Project. The idea behind it is simple — take a break from technology and spend at least 20 minutes a day outdoors to enjoy the simple joys, sights and sounds that the season brings.

Family Walk / Bike Ride

My family’s favorite 20 minute outdoor spring activity is going on walks together. My twin girls usually ride their bikes, while my son, husband, and I walk. We have really nice walking trails all around our neighborhood, as well as large, open areas of land that are great for playing fetch with our dog.

It’s so nice and refreshing to be able to get outside and take a walk as a family, especially during the spring when the flowers are blooming and the trees are budding. However, the one downside is we all suffer from allergies, so sometimes going outside can make our allergies flare up. Thankfully, we can count on Claritin to help alleviate our allergy symptoms so that we can enjoy all of our favorite outdoor spring activities!

Get Involved and Help the Boys & Girls Clubs of America

The 20 Minutes of Spring Project is a part of year two of a three year partnership between Claritin and Boys & Girls Clubs of America, where Claritin has committed up to $500,000 to fund programming and create resources to help get kids outside.

How can you help?

It’s simple! Post a picture of your favorite family-friendly outdoor spring activity on Facebook or Instagram and tag both #Claritin and #20MinutesofSpring by June 21, 2018. Every post will trigger a $5 donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (up to $50,000). To learn more go to Claritin.com/20MinutesofSpring.
