Living in America, it’s easy to think that no one is starving. But the reality is 1 in 8 Americans struggle with hunger. I’ve seen it firsthand in my own community. Many families are struggling just to survive, let alone put healthy meals on the table. It inspires me to want to get involved and help, which is why I am excited to share about the Walmart “Fight Hunger, Spark Change” Program! From the time our kids were little, my husband and I have tried to teach them to give back to those in need. We’ve given food to the homeless, donated clothes, toys, and personal goods to displaced families, and we’ve also donated food to our local food bank. It feels good to give back and help others who are less fortunate, so we were excited to help provide meals to Feeding America by shopping at Walmart. I encourage you to join us!
Fight Hunger, Spark Change Program
Doing good for those in need doesn’t have to be a big, overwhelming task. You can start small at your local Walmart store! Right now through April 30, 2018, when you purchase participating Unilever products such as Ben & Jerry’s®, Knorr®, Hellmann’s®, and Best Foods®, Unilever will donate the monetary equivalent of at least 1 meal ($0.10) to Feeding America®. It’s so easy to give back by purchasing the products you already use!
Simply shop at Walmart and look for items that have the Fight Hunger logo on them. It’s simple — 1 item = 1 meal. How awesome is that?
You could even take it one step further and buy participating items to donate to your local food bank or shelter. Not only will this provide meals to Feeding America, it will also provide food to your local community!
We were excited to shop at Walmart to buy participating Fight Hunger items to donate to our local food bank, a huge resource to many people in our community. Last year alone our food bank donated 13.9 million pounds of food! While our donation seemed minuscule, it was well appreciated and I know it was a great learning experience for my kids.
We celebrated our fun day of giving back by treating ourselves to Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, our favorite! The best part is our purchase helped provide meals to feed the hungry!
