Growing up, I always played sports and stayed active. Once I had kids, I devoted all of my time and energy to them and didn’t take time for myself. My quality of life changed and I wasn’t happy. Even though I was never overweight, I didn’t feel healthy. A year and a half ago, I decided to make a change. I joined my local gym and started weightlifting five days a week. I started eating healthier and limited my soda intake. Trading my unhealthy choices for healthy choices paid off and I am now in the best shape of my life. I feel great and have come to find that I really enjoy living a fit lifestyle.
Living in Colorado, I have endless trails to walk, hike or bike. In the warmer months, we can hike and fish in the mountains and in the winter we can ski, snowboard or go sledding. The scenery is beautiful and the weather is great, so there are lots of things to do outdoors.
Whether you live along the coast and have beaches to run on or you live in a city full of sights to see, there are plenty of ways to stay active.
Here are 7 Ways to Get Fit in Your City:
1. Go on a Hike
2. Take a Bike Ride
3. Join a Recreational Sports Team
4. Take a Walk or Run on a Scenic Trail
5. Go Swimming
6. Take a Fitness Class at the Gym
7. Compete in a Race
Walgreens wants to reward you for living a healthy life, so now you can earn Balance Rewards points for making healthy choices! I’m sure many of you are familiar with the Walgreens Balance Rewards program and the Walgreens app. Just for shopping at Walgreens you can earn Balance Rewards points. Once the points add up you can redeem them for dollars off a future purchase. For example, 5,000 points will earn you $5 off a purchase. The best part is now you can earn rewards for making healthy choices!
You can either manually enter your daily activity or you can connect a fitness device, such as a FitBit, Jawbone UP24, or Misfit Shine and have it sync to your app. It was super easy to connect my Jawbone UP24 and now every day my steps are automatically synced to my Balance Rewards account. Now that I’m earning rewards for healthy choices in addition to my regular Walgreens purchases, I’m noticing that my rewards are adding up much more quickly!
I encourage you to download the Walgreens app (if you haven’t already), register for the Balance Rewards program and start tracking your progress with the healthy choices feature. Not only will you be that much closer to meeting your health goals, you will earn rewards to save on all the things you need at Walgreens!
