My twin girls just turned three last week. They are at an age right now where they love to play outside. They really enjoy playing on their swingset or riding their bikes up and down the driveway. While they have been riding bikes for about a year now, they just barely learned how to peddle a few months ago. It’s still a little hard for them, so I’ve been wanting to get them balance bikes.
Last year around this time, we reviewed the PlasmaCar from PlaSmart Toys. We love our PlasmaCar, so I was excited to see that PlaSmart also makes a bike without peddles called the PlasmaBike. Just in time for the girls 3rd birthday, Plasmart agreed to send us a PlasmBike for us to try out and review!
The PlasmaBike by PlaSmart
The PlasmaBike is a beginner’s balance bike. There are no peddles, no gears, and no batteries. It is simply a lightweight bike that allows children as young as 18 months to enjoy the excitement of riding a bike without having to worry about keeping their balance. Unlike most balance bikes, the PlasmaBike has wide wheels that assist children in keeping the bike upright in a stopped or stationary position. The wide wheels and limited steering range enhance balancing capabilities and provide a smoother transition to a conventional 2-wheel ride.
Our Experience
As soon as the PlasmaBike arrived, the girls couldn’t wait to try it out. There was no assembly required, so I was literally able to pull it out of the box and it was ready to go. Of course as soon as I got it out, the girls started fighting over who was going to ride it first. Once I was able to get them to stop fighting over it, they took turns riding it around the living room. They both figured out how to ride it in no time!
My girls have been having lots of fun with the PlasmaBike. I really like that it sits low to the ground, making it easy for the girls to get on and off. The wheels move smoothly, allowing the girls to push themselves around with ease. I also like that the bike has a lot more stability than other bikes out there. I don’t have to worry about my girls tipping over like they do with their tricycles.
If you are looking for a fun Christmas present that a younger child would love, and one that will last for a long time, I would highly recommend the PlasmaBike!
